After spending the past few days mostly indoors and doing boring chores, I decided it was time to get out and get some fresh air into my lungs.
Lately I’ve been trying to explore local places around me that I’ve never taken any notice to or just never bothered to go and see. Be a sort of tourist in my own city kinda thing.
St Michael and All Angels
This beautiful, timber framed church is located in Great Altcar, a village in West Lancashire.
I pass this church quite often when on my way into Liverpool for hospital appointments and always admire the beautiful grounds it’s situated in.
There has been a church on this site since 1429 but sadly there are no remains of the small brick building there once was.
The building that stands here now was first built in 1878 and only houses one stained glass window.
It is such a beautifully simple church compared to the grandiose churches of Liverpool and most towns and cities.
How gorgeous does that church entrance look? I could just see myself in the doorway in my wedding dress… Oh I can dream, right?
