An Evening in Blackpool

Now I’m MEGA late with this post and my boyfriend has been bugging me to put it up for weeks, so here it is in all its seaside glory!

A couple of weeks ago myself and G (my boyfriend) decided to go to see Blackpool’s famous lights! They were due to be switched off on the 5th of November so we needed to get up there quick to see them.
I always thought Blackpool lights were on over Christmas but NOPE, they run from late August to early November every year. Every year the lights are switched on by a celebrity and this year it was Alfie Boe, who is an English opera singer and actor. He was also born in the seaside town and grew up in nearby Fleetwood.

As we only live around an hour away from Blackpool we decided to set off around half 3 to get there for tea-time.

One thing I noticed when driving through Blackpool was that despite it being Halloween there were NO kids out trick or treating. Honestly, we saw NONE! I’m so glad I grew up without social media in my life and all this technology we have now…

We arrived in Blackpool at 5pm and headed straight for something to eat.

We originally wanted to go to Bella Italia but it was all booked up, it was Halloween night after all…

We walked down towards the tower to see what we could find and came across the Harry Ramsden’s there! Perfect, can’t beat a bit of fish and chips at the seaside can you?!

It was mega busy in there and we had about a 20 minute wait to be seated but everything was clean and the staff were nice and friendly.

The chips weren’t that great but the fish was beauuuuuutiful and I actually quite enjoyed it!

After our tea, we went out for a little walk to see the lights but it started to rain so we went back to the car and drove through the lights instead. Next time if we ever come back to see the lights in the future we’ll definitely come earlier in the year, it was bloody feeezing!

Had to get a pic of my fave…

It was quite a busy night in Blackpool and I think it must’ve took us at least 45 minutes to get through the whole light display! Even though it was cold and rainy, I still enjoyed being with my G and spending precious time together making memories.

Talk about parallel lives! When I took my kids years ago we had fish and chips and ended up driving as it was flipping freezing and raining too! I think that’s part of the Blackpool experience lol

Haha, I agree, I don’t think I’ve ever been to Blackpool when it’s been nice weather! It was a nice change though x

Aaah I haven’t been to Blackpool in years, but used to go all the time when I was younger! I used to love the pleasure beach and remember staying in the Big Blue Hotel once haha. I would love to visit again, especially to see the lights!

I’ve never been to the pleasure beach y’know, think I’ll have to make a visit one day in the summer!
Do you live fairly close to Blackpool then? xx

Oh really?! It’s so much fun, but haven’t been in 10 years so might have changed now haha!
No, about 2 hours away! We just used to go regularly when I was younger 😊 xx

I love going to the Blackpool illuminations, I went a lot as a kid and I’ve been a couple of times as an adult. So glad you had a lovely time and made a new memory!

Aw, this sounds like a cute little evening outing with your man, Liv! Typical British weather strikes again, I guess! Least you were warmer and drier tucked up inside the car. Have to say, those Harry Ramsden’s Chips don’t even look all that great tbh. Least the fish was nice!
Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. The lights look well worth seeing. <3

Ohh the chips were rubbish, such a shame, but the company made up for it 🙂 xx

Ah, yes! Very true about the good company meaning the most. <3

I’m gutted that I missed them this year! It was always a tradition growing up. The Bella Italia near Winter Gardens is great, I hope you get a table next time you’re in town.

Hum… fish and chips. Now you gave a craving!

Aw it sounds like you had a lovely afternoon/evening! The fish did look very tasty, there’s nothing like fish and chips by the seaside! The lights look pretty, it’s a shame it rained, but I guess that’s pretty normal for England haha. Lovely post, thank you for sharing 🙂

We also only live an hour or so from Blackpool, we could be neighbours and not realise! Great photos 🙂

This sounds like such a nice day and that dinner looks delicious! Crazy to think that there were no kids out there trick or treating haha! x

It was actually quite sad! When I was young there were so many groups of kids walking around trick or treating! 🙁 x
