Why a Plain Black Tee is Your Best Friend!

What a boring post you might be thinking… It’s just a plain black t-shirt. There’s not much to be done with that…
Well you’re forgiven for thinking WRONG people!

The lovely people at Tesco Home Panels sent me their black Ladies Scoop Neck Tee a few weeks ago and at first, yeah, I did think oh, what a boring thing to review… But I got thinking, they couldn’t have possibly sent me a better item of clothing for the coming Autumn/Winter days!

I love Supermarket fashion, I’m not going to lie. I love how affordable it is, how accessible it is and y’know what, they have really nice fashionable pieces! Tesco’s F&F is my favourite, closely followed by Tu by Sainsburys but to be honest, I’ll buy from any supermarket as long as I like the item!

Cotton Sustainability

This t-shirt that Tesco have sent me is made from 100% sustainable cotton, which if you’ve recently watched the Stacey Dooley documentary on BBC1, is such an important thing.
In the documentary we discovered that 15,000 litres of water is needed to grow the cotton needed to make ONE pair of jeans! That’s a HELL of a lot of water just for one pair of jeans, just think of how many litres were needed to make all the cotton garments in your wardrobe… Scary eh?

We saw Stacey drive across a desert in her documentary but it wasn’t a desert at all. It used to be the Amal Sea in Khazakstan which is now 3/4 dried up! It was shocking to see that local cotton producers had done this over a course of 50 years by tapping into the sea to keep their cotton fields supplied with water.

Tesco have fantastically recently pledged to using 100% sustainable cotton in ALL their clothing that they sell. Another reason to love my favourite store!
You can read about this on their own blog here.

How to wear the Tee…

Here’s a few outfits I put together using my black top

Denim shirt – Wish | Ripped jeans – Tesco F&F

Dress – New Look (SO long ago)

Skirt – New Look (3 years ago)

God I need to buy some new clothes it seems, haha! But you get the gist of what kind of outfits you could wear the top with so all’s good!

I definitely think I’ll be wearing this top loads over the autumn/winter, it’s just so versatile!

If you would like one yourself you can find them in Tesco’s stores, click HERE to find your nearest one!

Anyone else love supermarket fashion like me?

St Tropez One Minute Everyday Pre-Shower Tanning Mousse Review

Bit of a mouthful that title isn’t it?!

I’m a complete tanning novice with only a few orange streaky applications of Dove Summer Glow under my belt when I was around 15 years old.

This year, what with the heatwaves we had, I felt confident enough to wear shorts but that meant I’d have to expose my milk bottle legs to the world. I did and I felt fine doing this but I was so jealous of all the girls with gorgeous tanned legs. Plus I’d managed to acquire some interesting tan lines on my feet which look friggin’ awful!

I actually first saw this gradual tan on YouTube, I watched a couple of vids from people who’d reviewed it and thought I’d give it a go. To be honest though, looking back, these girls who reviewed the product were already quite tanned to start with…

st tropez tan

This product appealed to me as I’m mega lazy and it claimed to work BEFORE a shower and take one minute to do so. I could so easily fit it into my daily routine no probs, my prayers had been answered!
Here’s what St Tropez claim on their website:

The World’s first One Minute Pre-Shower Tanning Mousse is the most convenient way to an everyday sunkissed glow. Simply apply to dry skin daily and shower off after just 1 minute for a subtle golden glow from day one. Reapply daily, or leave on longer for a deeper glow.

I WAS SOLD.

*Just a note to do a test patch the day before you use this product in case you are allergic to it*

DAY ONE

To apply this mousse was really nice and easy if I’m honest. It comes out as a white fluffy mousse and when you put it onto your skin it’s white too which makes application much easier as you can see where you’ve applied it.
There was a slight smell on application but it reminded me of shampoo rather than biscuit-y tan smell which was quite nice tbh! It also soaked into my skin really quickly.
St Tropez say on their website that you can leave it on for up to 5 minutes so that you get a deeper glow so I thought I’d try make the most of the product.

After 4 minutes I hopped into the shower and washed my body with my usual shower gel.

Throughout the day I kept checking my legs to see if anything was developing but didn’t really notice anything…

DAY TWO

After sleeping with the product on, I woke up to my legs looking, not so tan-like, but as if the product had evened out my skin tone. Which was good but I was expecting more of a little glow.
I could also smell the dreaded biscuit-y smell… BUT there was no transfer on my pyjamas or bed sheets.
Onto the next application…
Before I had my usual shower of the day I stuck another layer on my legs, waited the full 5 minutes this time and then showered it off.

During the day I did notice a very very slight tan beginning to develop but I wouldn’t really call it a tan if I’m honest.

DAY THREE

When I woke up this morning I REALLY wanted to see lovely tanned legs and they just weren’t there… I would say that it definitely evened out the skin tone of my legs but again, no real tan to shout about.

I decided to give it one last try as it is a gradual tan after all and I guess the results I’ve got are gradual…
So again, I applied another layer of the tan before my morning shower, waited 5 minutes then washed it off.

I did notice this time during the day that a bit of colour developed! THANK THE LORD!

THE VERDICT

Please excuse my AWFUL legs!

I don’t think gradual tanners are for me, I’m faaaaaaar too impatient! This product did even out my skin tone and gave me a very slight tan but I don’t think it’s for me.
What doesn’t work for one person may work for another though and I do think it’s worth a shot.

I think I’m going to give St Tropez’s Self Tan Express Bronzing Mousse a go next. Has anyone used it or got any recommendations for other self tans?

Statement Made Jewellery

The Lotus flower actually symbolises 4 different things in Buddhism but for a while I’ve wanted a piece of jewellery to symbolise just one of them – rising and blooming amongst the murk to achieve enlightenment.
The murk for me symbolising Cystic Fibrosis, the disease I suffer from.

I genuinely had been searching for a piece of jewellery to represent this when I got a message from the lovely people at Statement Made Jewellery asking whether they could send me a necklace as a gift.
I didn’t get to choose a specific necklace and to be honest I would’ve felt cheeky as they were lovely enough to send me anything as a gift so I had to wait for it to arrive to see which one I got.

statement made jewellery

Yep, sure enough and to my surprise I received a beautiful necklace with lotus flower pendant and a small little disc with the initial ‘L’ on for Liv.
I couldn’t believe my luck, it surely must be fate that I’d received exactly what I’d been looking for without me telling anyone!

I took a peek on Statement Made Jewellery’s website (they also are on Etsy!) and saw that they do this necklace in silver too if you’re more suited to that colour.
Whilst on their website I saw that the company make SO many beautiful items. Many more different necklaces, earrings, bracelets and even anklets!! I find it so hard to find pretty anklets but this site has them!

Statement Made Jewellery even do custom-made engraved jewellery if you’re looking for something that bit more personal.

Thank you so very much to Statement Made Jewellery for sending me this beautiful necklace that means a lot to me on a personal level. Just HOW did you read my mind?!

What’s in my Bag?

I ADORE ‘What’s in my bag’ posts, whether it be via a blog or YouTube. I think they’re what got me into reading blogs and following bloggers to be honest! I wonder who was the first person to post what was in their bag…?
I don’t know what it is about looking through the contents of someone’s bag that I love but I know I’ll never tire of them!

I have such a BAAAD handbag obsession. In any shop I go to, my favourite section is always the bag section. I find myself having to avoid it more often than not as I either cant afford another bag or my wardrobe just cant handle another one.
At the moment, I counted I have 11 bags… Yep. 11. I really should take a few to the charity shop as I haven’t used a few for a long time.

The Bag

Bag

I bought this little beauty from the lovelies at Boutique of Molly. I needed (I do actually mean need and not just want this time!) a bag that was cute enough to use on nights out when I’m all dolled up but also big enough for all my shiz.
Its called ‘Verona’ and you can find it HERE!! I was so pleasantly surprised when I opened up the little pink parcel it came in. It is beautifully made and is the perfect size for taking on a night out!
It has a small zipped compartment inside to fit in any spare change you may have or your fave lippy.

What’s inside?

bag

  1. Ted Baker Cilinir Micro Bow Card Holder
My usual purse is wayyy too big to carry around on a night out and to be honest I only really use cards. I got this card holder for Christmas last year and it is just what I need on nights out or when I’ve got a small bag.
  2. Spotty Compact Mirror
I must’ve bought this over 10 years ago from Claire’s Accessories. Little bit worn now but it does the job when out and about for checking my make-up hasn’t smudged!
  3. Inhaler
Lifesaver. I have Cystic Fibrosis so basically my lungs (and other parts) are crap and I find it hard to breathe at times.
  4. Nivea Hydro Care Lip Protection with Pure Water & Aloe Vera
My lips are ALWAYS chapped. I wish I had been blessed with beautiful soft, moisturised lips but nah.
  5. Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick – Simply Nude.
One of my favourite go-to lipsticks. Goes with anything I’m wearing and just a lovely colour that suits my Snow White complexion.
  6. Boots Tissues.
Like it says on the packet, “sniffles on the go”.
  7. Bayliss and Harding Hand Gel
I always have to have hand gel on me. I have a low immune system due to being on steroid medication so I really don’t want to be catching all the bugs flying around. I picked up this Baylis and Harding one from Tesco and it smells gorgeous. The scent lasts ages as well!
  8. Escada perfume sample – Agua del Sol.
I got this from Fragrance Direct when I bought an aftershave online for my boyfriend. They give you 2 samples with every order which is fab for discovering new scents!
I don’t think they sell Agua del Sol anymore though…
  9. Ghost mini perfume
I got this in a ‘Ghost’ gift set from the in-laws quite a while ago but only just getting round to using it. It’s another one of my favourite perfumes so always handy to have a little bottle in my bag.
  10. Insulin case
I’m diabetic so need to take insulin before I eat meals. This little case holds my insulin and a few needles so I can inject myself.

Boutique of Molly

Boutique of Molly is an online shop which sells clothes and bags for really affordable prices. I’ve fallen in love with SO many items they have on there, I’m seriously having to restrain myself from buying literally everything!
I’m desperately wanting this playsuit for my cruise in August, next payday, it’ll be MINE! Hopefully it wont sell out before then… Look how cute it is!!!

Pop on over to their site here and have a nosy! I’m sure you’ll find at least 5 things you’ll want! Even better, I have my own DISCOUNT code!!!! Use  ‘SEABREEZE20’  and you’ll get 20% off your order!!!

I hope you enjoyed nosing through the contents of my bag and definitely take a look at Boutique of Molly, they really do have some lovely things!!
I love my Verona bag and I know it’s going to stay in my wardrobe for a long time to come.

Staybridge Suites, Liverpool – Hotel Review

This year for my birthday I actually didn’t want anything.
“WHAT?!” I hear you cry! Well I say that because I couldn’t think of anything I wanted or needed – I must be getting old ehh! Plus the fact that both me and my boyfriend are saving for a house and for our cruise later on in the year, I thought it best not to go big for my 29th…

So this year, I left my birthday completely in my Mr’s hands. Bit risky but hey, he’s got good form.

On the morning of my birthday I woke up to a cute text from my boyfriend saying to pack an overnight bag as we were off to Liverpool to stay in our favourite hotel! Perfect!

Staybridge Suites, Liverpool

This is our absolute favourite hotel we have stayed in, it was our 4th time here! I say hotel, but really they’re mini apartments.
Each room/apartment has kitchen facilities, a bathroom and depending on whether you go for a studio or suite, a bedroom. This place is fantastic for extended stays and for people who have to work away from home for a long period of time as it’s just like a home away from home.

Staybridge is part of a collection of chains that is owned by the company IHG. They own chains such as ‘Holiday Inn’, ‘Crowne Plaza’, ‘Hotel Indigo’ and ‘Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants’.

I actually didn’t realise IHG had that many Staybridge suites all over the world! They have hotels in; Azerbaijan, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Lebanon, Mexico, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, The USA and the UK.
There are several Staybridge suites in the UK; Liverpool, London – Vauxhall, London – Stratford City, Manchester, Birmingham and Newcastle.
I have only had the pleasure of staying in their Liverpool suites but my parents gave me money for a weekend away for my birthday, so we’re going to stay at their Birmingham suites in the very near future!

Instead of going out for dinner, my boyfriend thought he’d be all romantic and cook me dinner in our room using the kitchen facilities. So before check-in at 3pm we went to the supermarket and picked up a few bits for a curry.
If you are staying at Staybridge and find yourself with nothing in the fridge to eat, head to their ‘Pantry’! Its like a little mini shop where you can buy microwave meals, snacks and drinks. They even have toiletries and other useful things you may have forgotten to pack. Really is such a great thing to have in a hotel.

Arrival

We arrived at Staybridge, went straight to reception and the fantastic Guille was there to take care of us. He checked us in and took details of our car so we could park in their secure underground parking.
Since our last visit the hotel has had a bit of a refurb and it whilst it looked fab before, I love this new refurb more!

We got our key card from Guille and headed to our room on the top floor. Room 618.
How gorgeous is the set up in the lobby where the lifts are? I love that mirror!

Excuse our bags!

hotel room view

Check out that view!

staybridge bed

How I wish I had that bed throw… and that wallpaper… and the pictures…

We opened the door and it was just like coming home…
My boyfriend had booked a studio suite this time and it’s just perfect for one night. I saw that the rooms have been refurbished as well as the main areas of the hotel. The new design is beautiful and I love the colours that they have used!

staybridge kitchen
The kitchen has everything you could ever need for your stay and includes a dishwasher, because after all, who wants to wash dishes whilst away?

When booking the room online my boyfriend also mentioned that it was my birthday. As a very kind gesture I was given a card and some chocolates as a present from Staybridge which I thought was so lovely! These were scoffed watching tv in bed that night haha!

‘The Social’

When we checked in Guille told us that ‘The Social’ was on in the main breakfast area that evening from half 6 to half 7.
We have been to a couple of Staybridge social events in the past and were so pleased that we’d be able to go to another.

The hotel runs ‘The Social’ every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and its a chance to meet and chat to other guests. Each evening is hosted by a member of the Staybridge team, they’re ever so friendly and they come over for a chat too!
On previous stays we’ve loved chatting to Elaine, she does all in her power to make you feel welcome and take good care of you. This place is seriously full of amazingly friendly people, it’s one of the main reasons we like coming back so much!

On this occasion our host was Lisa and this was the first time we’d met her. She was lovely, kept our drinks topped up and asked about our plans for the night.
Staybridge Suites treat their guests like Kings and Queens and all the snacks and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) served at The Social are completely FREE!

alcohol
My boyfriend and I love The Social and find it’s a great opportunity to meet people from all over world and learn about their culture. This occasion we spoke to people from Ireland, India and the Czech Republic! Love the new chairs too, Staybridge!

The rest of the evening…

After the Social we headed back to our room where my boyfriend got his cook on whilst I enjoyed a lovely warm shower using the luxurious products that were in the bathroom. The shower gel smelt gorgeous!

Everything in our suite was exceptionally clean and I watch Four in a Bed so I know what to look out for, haha!

I would’ve had a picture of my meal that my boyfriend made but I was just so hungry and relaxed after my shower that I scoffed it so fast it didn’t touch the sides!
Such a lucky duck to have a boyfriend who is an amazing cook! Ooh, that rhymed!

We spent the rest of the evening eating snacks we’d bought, in bed, watching tv.
My boyfriend got a bit peckish later on and we discovered a card in our room informing us that we could use Deliveroo to order in a takeaway direct to our room. How awesome?! I looked on the Deliveroo app and found a dessert shop nearby called ‘Heavenly Desserts’ and I was SO tempted to order one… Next time maybe!

Breakfast

staybridge breakfast

After a very comfortable sleep, we woke up around 8am to get ready for breakfast. Breakfast is served in the same place that The Social is held and is included in the price of your stay.
There is everything you could ever wish for to eat for breakfast served in a self-serve, buffet style and there is also a member of staff at hand to help with any requests you may have.

My boyfriend opted to have a cooked breakfast and I just had toast. So exciting aren’t I?!
There are also a variety of juices, teas and coffees on offer. Again, self serve, but you can eat and drink as much as you want here and you don’t have to pay extra -fantastic! One guy we seen went up 4 times getting food!
My boyfriend enjoyed his breakfast and said everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. My toast was.. toast haha, not much you can say about toast is there? But yeah I enjoyed my breakfast too.

After breakfast we just sat for a while and chatted to each other and others around us before going back to our room to pack.
Check-out came around and it was time to say another farewell to our favourite hotel.

We both had a fantastic stay (again) and can’t wait to return once again to Staybridge Suites. Thank you for a wonderful birthday stay!
Watch out Staybridge Birmingham, you’re next!!!
