A Day Out in Llandudno

The past couple of months have been rubbish for me, what with health problems being the main culprit. So I thought a little change of scene was needed to have an escape from the doom and gloom.
Funny how just a day out can lift your mood and help get you back on track to cope with life’s obstacles, isn’t it?!

Me and my family decided to visit my uncle who lives in Conwy, North Wales and we all then went out together to have a walk around Llandudno which is close by.
It was MEGA busy for a Tuesday afternoon I thought but then again, it is the school holidays and it was a beautiful, hot, sunny day.

I thought I’d share some photos I took of the day, I hope you like ’em!

The only bad thing of the day which really upset me was seeing donkey rides on the beach… I can’t STAND them and just wanted to go on over and have a go at the owner of the donkeys. Really do wish they’d stop exploiting animals in this way.

Would’ve loved to have gone on this boat trip around the Great Orme and to Puffin Island. I’ve been on it before years ago when I was like 10 and it was brilliant!

There were LOADS of little stalls all along the pier. Loads of food; doughnuts, cakes, cheese, fish ‘n’ chips and of course, ice cream!

I mean, you can’t NOT have an ice cream at the seaside can you?

Just before the pier they had a Punch and Judy show. It’s been here for donkeys years, I remember coming here with my cousin and watching it as a young kid. So lovely to see it again and to see a new generation enjoying the show!

On the way back to my uncles house, he decided to take us around the Great Orme and it’s nature reserve.
You pay £3 at a little booth and then you can either drive around the Orme or park up and walk around.

It’s DEFINITELY worth doing as the views are just spectacular!! There’s lots of cute sheep and mountain goats around too.

My uncle made us a lovely roast dinner that evening and it was the perfect end to a perfect day!
Sometimes you forget how beautiful some parts of our country are, I can’t wait to come back here again! Maybe I’ll ride on the Great Orme cable car next time…

Statement Made Jewellery

The Lotus flower actually symbolises 4 different things in Buddhism but for a while I’ve wanted a piece of jewellery to symbolise just one of them – rising and blooming amongst the murk to achieve enlightenment.
The murk for me symbolising Cystic Fibrosis, the disease I suffer from.

I genuinely had been searching for a piece of jewellery to represent this when I got a message from the lovely people at Statement Made Jewellery asking whether they could send me a necklace as a gift.
I didn’t get to choose a specific necklace and to be honest I would’ve felt cheeky as they were lovely enough to send me anything as a gift so I had to wait for it to arrive to see which one I got.

Yep, sure enough and to my surprise I received a beautiful necklace with lotus flower pendant and a small little disc with the initial ‘L’ on for Liv.
I couldn’t believe my luck, it surely must be fate that I’d received exactly what I’d been looking for without me telling anyone!

I took a peek on Statement Made Jewellery’s website (they also are on Etsy!) and saw that they do this necklace in silver too if you’re more suited to that colour.
Whilst on their website I saw that the company make SO many beautiful items. Many more different necklaces, earrings, bracelets and even anklets!! I find it so hard to find pretty anklets but this site has them!

The June Edit

This month’s review will only be a short one as I had quite a crappy month and forgot to make notes, my brain doesn’t work when I don’t write thigs down!
Nothing in the month ever seemed to go right, apart from the weather that is… I actually cant remember the last time I saw rain.
I don’t think I’ve ever had a summer like this one where the weather has been so consistently good for more than a week. It feels almost surreal, doesn’t it?~

How typically British I start this post with talking about the weather!

Health

You might have seen over on my twitter that I was in hospital recently. I needed to go onto the ward for a few days for a couple of reasons really… I have been losing weight steadily over the past 4 months so needed to go back on feeds. This is where I connect up a tube in my stomach to a machine that pumps liquid filled with hundreds of calories into me. If you’re wondering just wtf all that shiz is then click HERE to read more.
I also needed to try out a couple of medications in a safe environment as I am allergic to so many so my doctor thought it would be best I go onto the ward for this.

I only expected to be in a few days but my diabetes started playing up whilst I was there and I needed to stay an extra couple of days to get it under control.
I HATED being in… I got the room I had last time I was admitted and its right by the nurses station so didn’t get much sleep. Next time I need to remember to pack earplugs!

It was CF (Cystic Fibrosis) Week whilst I was on the ward, this is where people try to raise money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. The nurses on the ward had decorated the whole ward with yellow bunting and yellow balloons. It looked great, I wish they could stay up all the time, our ward needs a bit of decoration I think!
The nurses also ran a raffle and made little yellow ribbon badges to raise some money and they did really well, they managed to raise £600! So proud!

Blogging Life

I haven’t been on social media much this month as other months but I did manage to hit 1700 followers on Twitter! I’m so grateful to everyone who’s followed me so far.

I’m making steady progress on my Instagram though and have hit 450 followers!

I have been overwhelmed this month with such kind words from lovely followers and friends on Twitter and Instagram. I cant begin to tell you all how much this means to me, I don’t have many friends in RL (spare the violin) and to have people on the internet who care and spend a little bit of their day sending me a lovely comment genuinely means the world.

Life in General

This week I was invited to my boyfriend’s family gathering, a couple of his relatives had come over from Australia to visit. We all met up at a BEAUTIFUL pub in Christleton in Chester called The Cheshire Cat and had dinner there.
There’s a lovely canal right next to it and a great beer garden which we sat in for a while after having dinner and watched the sunset.

Another thing I loved about this pub/restaurant was that they allowed dogs! There were quite a few there and I just wanted to stroke them ALL. I spent most of the day staring at them and saying “awww look at him” to my boyfriend haha! They had dog biscuits on the bar in a jar and plenty of water bowls dotted all over the place too which is great to see.

I ordered fish and chips off their menu and it was cooked to perfection. So tasty and their chips were BIG, proper like tombstones! I seriously hope to go back again soon and try other things they had on their menu and of course, DESSERTS!

5 Things to Distract you from Worrying

I am such a worry wart, it’s something about myself which I definitely wish I could change.
Worrying solves nothing, it’s a pointless act. It will never change the outcome of the circumstance – These are the things I tell myself over and over and yet I STILL worry.
My worrying has definitely led to anxiety and I’ve suffered so badly from it in past years. Luckily now I seem to have it under control but certain things can still set me off.

I have always been a worrier, I get it from my mum, she’s even worse than me! But I HAVE always had things to worry about in my life. Having Cystic Fibrosis means that you’ll go through all kinds. Operations/procedures, tests, annual tests to see how your health is doing over the years, it’s bloody relentless, so worrying comes in the package sadly.
Then there’s just general life worries like; will I ever be able to buy my own home with my partner? I’m 29 – do people laugh at me for still living at home with my parents?
So yeah, I have all kinds of worry.

The past few months though I’ve learnt to distract myself from the worrying, I’ve tried to actually listen to that voice saying that worrying solves nothing.
I have found that distraction works best for me and these 5 things below are the things I do to keep the worrying at bay…

 

Exercise

You’ve probably seen exercise being the best thing for mental health all over the internet but it truly does help me a LOT!
I go to the gym 3 times a week and I feel it helps me deal with whatever I’m worrying about at the time. I concentrate on the things I’m doing at the gym and my progress and that takes me mind off the worries.

I also practise Yoga which works very well too, don’t ask me how but Yoga calms my racing worrisome mind and an early morning Yoga practice seriously does me the world of good. If you’re wanting to try it out I seriously recommend ‘Yoga with Adriene‘ on YouTube.

Reading

Reading is my ultimate escape when things get too much for me. I love getting lost in a story, usually a thriller and not thinking about what’s worrying me. I do tend to stay away from anything sad though…
The book I’ve just finished reading was great for distraction as it was one of those with lots of twists and turns and I spent any time away from the book trying to figure it out!

Boxsets

If reading isn’t your thing then maybe you could try tv boxsets?
I’m currently making my way through Grey’s Anatomy and omg I am HOOKED. I could definitely watch 5 episodes on the bounce and not notice!
Sometimes some people need an intricate programme to get into, to keep their minds busy. Maybe something like a murder mystery would be good, Midsummer Murders is bound to be on one of the tv channels somewhere.
Another programme I LOVE to watch and always cheers me up no matter what is Plebs on itv2. It’s hilarious and I desperately want a Grumio in my life!!!!!

Spending time with pets

Spending time with pets is actually proven to reduce depression so it’s only fitting that when I spend time with my little dog she banishes all worrying feelings and thoughts.
Even just sitting by her makes me feel better but taking her for a little walk is the best. Getting out and about in the fresh air and looking after my pup – what could be better?

Pampering

I’m aaaaaall about the self care. Having a warm bubble bath, shaving my legs and sometimes putting a bit of tan on can lift my mood. It doesn’t even have to be anything that big either.
Trying out a new mascara or playing around with eyeliner is a good little distraction if you don’t feel like doing much or just having a general play around with make up. I often do this when feeling a bit down and worrying a lot about something and it does help!

Sam’s Questions

  1. What’s your favourite social media to communicate with other bloggers and why?
    My favourite has to be Twitter hands down! There are so many people I’ve met on there who are such fab and brilliant people who I’d have never met otherwise. I love discovering new blogs through twitter chats too which I’ve started to get involved in just recently.
  2. What genre of music are you into?
    Late 90s and early 2000’s pop/dance. My fave radio stations are Heat and Kisstory. I definitely live in the past a bit. None of the stuff out now really interests me at all… Apart from Ed Sheeran. Love a bit of Ed.
  3. What type of fashion are you into?
    This is a bit of a difficult one as I feel I’m going through a bit of a change with my fashion style at the min. I’m getting to 30 years old and haven’t a clue what I’m ‘supposed’ to be wearing. I look 16 so could pull off the latest looks but I’d feel stupid in myself.
    I’m trying to get into classic simple pieces now but to be honest, I still don’t have a clue.
  4. Do you have any skincare routines?
    Everyone’s probably going to be screaming at me for this, especially all you beauty bloggers but… none!
    I have been very lucky with my skin as I haven’t had any problems with it and never seen the point of using products when I don’t need them. A case of if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it and I do get people commenting on how good my skin is. I do however moisturise every other day (when I rememer) but that’s it.
    I should be starting to use a anti-wrinkle cream or something but there are so many out there I don’t know what to choose!
  5. Do you play on any consoles (PS4/Xbox)?
    Nope not anymore really, I can never find the time. I had a PS3 but I ended up just using it to watch dvds on…

  1. Do you have any pets, if so, what?
    I have a little Yorkshire Terrier called Sammie (girl). She’s my absolute world!
  2. Do you have any tattoos, if so, what?
    I don’t have any tattoos, I know, how boring right? I think in the future I want to get Sammie’s paw print tattooed somewhere on me though
  3. Do you have any children? How many?
    I don’t have any kids, I’m unable to have any due to my lung disease as it’d be too dangerous for me to carry a baby. I see my dog as my child though so…
  4. What is your favourite perfume/aftershave?
    At the moment my favourite perfume is a Kat Von D’s ‘Sinner’. I received a sample of it ages ago and fell in love with it so bought myself a bottle.
  5. What do you do to relax?
    Reading is the main thing I do to relax, I just love getting lost in a book and forgetting all my troubles.
    I also love to catch up on blogs and have a long soak in the bath with candles and listen to a podcast.

I’m doing this bonus question as there is supposed to be 11 questions that I must answer but I wanted to be fair and not pick one from Kimberley or Sam.

  • What do you do to cheer yourself up?
    I take my dog to the beach near where I live and seeing her happy, running like a mad possessed puppy on the sand never ever fails to cheer me up!
