5 Things to Distract you from Worrying

I am such a worry wart, it’s something about myself which I definitely wish I could change.
Worrying solves nothing, it’s a pointless act. It will never change the outcome of the circumstance – These are the things I tell myself over and over and yet I STILL worry.
My worrying has definitely led to anxiety and I’ve suffered so badly from it in past years. Luckily now I seem to have it under control but certain things can still set me off.

I have always been a worrier, I get it from my mum, she’s even worse than me! But I HAVE always had things to worry about in my life. Having Cystic Fibrosis means that you’ll go through all kinds. Operations/procedures, tests, annual tests to see how your health is doing over the years, it’s bloody relentless, so worrying comes in the package sadly.
Then there’s just general life worries like; will I ever be able to buy my own home with my partner? I’m 29 – do people laugh at me for still living at home with my parents?
So yeah, I have all kinds of worry.

The past few months though I’ve learnt to distract myself from the worrying, I’ve tried to actually listen to that voice saying that worrying solves nothing.
I have found that distraction works best for me and these 5 things below are the things I do to keep the worrying at bay…

You’ve probably seen exercise being the best thing for mental health all over the internet but it truly does help me a LOT!
I go to the gym 3 times a week and I feel it helps me deal with whatever I’m worrying about at the time. I concentrate on the things I’m doing at the gym and my progress and that takes me mind off the worries.

I also practise Yoga which works very well too, don’t ask me how but Yoga calms my racing worrisome mind and an early morning Yoga practice seriously does me the world of good. If you’re wanting to try it out I seriously recommend ‘Yoga with Adriene‘ on YouTube.

Reading is my ultimate escape when things get too much for me. I love getting lost in a story, usually a thriller and not thinking about what’s worrying me. I do tend to stay away from anything sad though…
The book I’ve just finished reading was great for distraction as it was one of those with lots of twists and turns and I spent any time away from the book trying to figure it out!
If you’re interested in the book, I mentioned it here in my April Review post!

If reading isn’t your thing then maybe you could try tv boxsets?
I’m currently making my way through Grey’s Anatomy and omg I am HOOKED. I could definitely watch 5 episodes on the bounce and not notice!
Sometimes some people need an intricate programme to get into, to keep their minds busy. Maybe something like a murder mystery would be good, Midsummer Murders is bound to be on one of the tv channels somewhere.
Another programme I LOVE to watch and always cheers me up no matter what is Plebs on itv2. It’s hilarious and I desperately want a Grumio in my life!!!!!

tv bed

Spending time with pets

Spending time with pets is actually proven to reduce depression so it’s only fitting that when I spend time with my little dog she banishes all worrying feelings and thoughts.
Even just sitting by her makes me feel better but taking her for a little walk is the best. Getting out and about in the fresh air and looking after my pup – what could be better?

I’m aaaaaall about the self care. Having a warm bubble bath, shaving my legs and sometimes putting a bit of tan on can lift my mood. It doesn’t even have to be anything that big either.
Trying out a new mascara or playing around with eyeliner is a good little distraction if you don’t feel like doing much or just having a general play around with make up. I often do this when feeling a bit down and worrying a lot about something and it does help!

I hope these 5 ideas help you out if you’re worrying about something, they certainly help me!

My 2nd Sunshine Blogger Award!

Last week I was lucky enough to be nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award by the very beautiful Sam from Sam’s Blog AND by the lovely Kimberley from Mother of Girls!
Please check out both their blogs as they’re both fab and they’re are great girls!

This will be the 2nd time I’ve done the Sunshine Award post so if you would like to check out my 1st ever nomination it’s HERE.

As I have been nominated twice, I’m going to do half of each nominator’s questions. So 5 of Sam’s questions that she has asked me and 5 of Kimberley’s questions.

So lets get down to the biz and start off with the rules…

  • Thank the blogger/bloggers that nominated you
  • Answer the 11 questions that the blogger asked you
  • Nominate the 11 blogs that you wish to receive this award and write them 11 questions to answer
  • List the rules and display the sunshine blogger award logo in your post/blog.

Sam’s Questions

  1. What’s your favourite social media to communicate with other bloggers and why?
My favourite has to be Twitter hands down! There are so many people I’ve met on there who are such fab and brilliant people who I’d have never met otherwise. I love discovering new blogs through twitter chats too which I’ve started to get involved in just recently.
  2. What genre of music are you into?
Late 90s and early 2000’s pop/dance. My fave radio stations are Heat and Kisstory. I definitely live in the past a bit. None of the stuff out now really interests me at all… Apart from Ed Sheeran. Love a bit of Ed.
  3. What type of fashion are you into?
This is a bit of a difficult one as I feel I’m going through a bit of a change with my fashion style at the min. I’m getting to 30 years old and haven’t a clue what I’m ‘supposed’ to be wearing. I look 16 so could pull off the latest looks but I’d feel stupid in myself.
I’m trying to get into classic simple pieces now but to be honest, I still don’t have a clue.
  4. Do you have any skincare routines?
Everyone’s probably going to be screaming at me for this, especially all you beauty bloggers but… none!
I have been very lucky with my skin as I haven’t had any problems with it and never seen the point of using products when I don’t need them. A case of if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it and I do get people commenting on how good my skin is. I do however moisturise every other day (when I rememer) but that’s it.
I should be starting to use a anti-wrinkle cream or something but there are so many out there I don’t know what to choose!
  5. Do you play on any consoles (PS4/Xbox)?
Nope not anymore really, I can never find the time. I had a PS3 but I ended up just using it to watch dvds on…

Kimberley’s Questions

  1. Do you have any pets, if so, what?
I have a little Yorkshire Terrier called Sammie (girl). She’s my absolute world!
  2. Do you have any tattoos, if so, what?
I don’t have any tattoos, I know, how boring right? I think in the future I want to get Sammie’s paw print tattooed somewhere on me though
  3. Do you have any children? How many?
I don’t have any kids, I’m unable to have any due to my lung disease as it’d be too dangerous for me to carry a baby. I see my dog as my child though so…
  4. What is your favourite perfume/aftershave?
At the moment my favourite perfume is a Kat Von D’s ‘Sinner’. I received a sample of it ages ago and fell in love with it so bought myself a bottle.
  5. What do you do to relax?
Reading is the main thing I do to relax, I just love getting lost in a book and forgetting all my troubles.
I also love to catch up on blogs and have a long soak in the bath with candles and listen to a podcast.

I’m doing this bonus question as there is supposed to be 11 questions that I must answer but I wanted to be fair and not pick one from Kimberley or Sam.

  • What do you do to cheer yourself up?
I take my dog to the beach near where I live and seeing her happy, running like a mad possessed puppy on the sand never ever fails to cheer me up!

The bloggers that I nominate are:

I’ve only nominated 8 here as I think other people have already done/recently been nominated for this award.

If you’re one of my nominees and don’t feel like doing this award, don’t worry, there’s no pressure but it would be fab to read your answers to my questions!

The Questions

  1. What is your favourite quote and why?
  2. What is your favourite song?
  3. If you could only watch one programme/tv series for the rest of your life what would it be?
  4. What is the best bit of blogging advice you’ve got?
  5. Tell me 3 things you like about yourself
  6. What is your most treasured possession?
  7. If you could trade places with any celebrity for one day, who would it be?
  8. Do you have any hobbies, if so, what are they?
  9. Do you believe in the afterlife?
  10. Do you have any skills that you’re proud of?
  11. Describe your ideal job.

Thank you once again to Sam and Kimberley for nominating me, I’ve enjoyed writing this post this bank holiday Sunday!

20 Questions to get to know me!

Sorry I haven’t written a post here for an absolute AGE. I’ve realised that I don’t want to ever force a post just for the sake of meeting deadlines. I’d rather create a good (I hope) post every so often than just crap twice a week. Quality not quantity dahhling (for me anyway).
I do wish I could churn out amazing post after amazing post but that’s just not the way I roll…

Anyhoo, I thought it’d be good for me and you to get to know each other better so I’ve found 20 ‘deep’ questions to answer. I didn’t want to just answer the generic ‘what’s your favourite colour’ type questions (it’s turquoise btw) so here goes…

The Questions…

  1. What’s your philosophy in life?
Don’t worry about what other people think of you. This is a recent philosophy I have started to live by. From when I started high school up until I was 28 I have always gone about life worrying what others thought of me. I’d not do certain things like go into charity shops in case someone I knew saw me and thought I was poor or something stupid to that effect. Or I’d not wear a item of clothing I loved for the simple fact that nobody else was wearing it.
Now I don’t care. I write what I want, I go where I want, I say what I want and I DO what I want. I don’t follow the crowd anymore.
    be yourself
  2. What is the one thing you would like to change about yourself?
To be more confident when speaking. I don’t mean public speaking, I mean like just ordinary chit chat to people. I seem to get nervous and stumble over my words… Some days are better than others like but I’d definitely love to be a bit more confident when talking to people.
  3. Are you religious or spiritual?
Yes I’m religious. I don’t attend mass but I pray and talk to God. God has been there a LOT for me in my life and I believe I wouldn’t be here without His help.
I’m not someone who forces my beliefs on others so you wont find me quoting the Bible on my blog or social media.
  4. Do you consider yourself an extrovert or an introvert?
Most definitely an introvert! After a day of being around people I love nothing better than to get into my bed and hide away from the world.
Don’t get me wrong, I like going out for meals and even the odd party. But I do enjoy getting home too!
  5. Which parent are you closer to and why?
I’m going to choose my mum for this as she is the one I’m around most of the time. My dad is usually out working or tinkering with his latest gardening project! I do consider myself close to both of them however but I think my mum just pips it for being the one I chat to most.
  6. What was the best phase of your life?
I have to say this one now. I feel I can be myself with the world now and blogging has DEFINITELY brought that out in me. Feeling comfortable in your own skin is the best thing ever and my anxiety is at an all time low.
I’m also doing well with exercise so my health is good at the moment. I’m managing to hit all my goals so really happy with that too.
  7. What was the worst phase in your life?
The worst phase in my life was when something went wrong during a routine operation and I could have died. It feels like just a nightmare now but at the time it was very real and very very tough.
  8. Is what you’re doing now what you’ve always wanted to do growing up?
Definitely not! If I had my health I’d have been in the Police force by now. Maybe one day I can get my health good enough to volunteer as a Special Constable or even just doing office work for the force.
  9. What makes you feel accomplished?
Helping people. I really do love helping people out or doing something nice for someone.
  10. Would you ever take someone back if they cheated on you?
No, I wouldn’t. The trust would be completely destroyed and I don’t want to waste my life worrying whether I’d be hurt again. You get one chance and one chance only with me.
  11. If you are in a bad mood, do you prefer to be left alone or have someone cheer you up?
Left alone. I’m really snappy when in a bad mood and say horrible things to the ones closest to me. Especially at that time of the month… My poor boyfriend doesn’t half get some snappy comments.
  12. Did you ever write a journal?
Yes, I love writing in my journal! Its so comforting and I love reading back over past entries. I only started a journal 2 years ago as I wanted somewhere to record all my memories in life and I was obsessed with watching vids of people flicking through theirs on YouTube.
My absolute favourite ‘journaller’ is Stephi Wild. I adore her journals!journal
  13. What are you most thankful for?
To be alive. That I wake up every morning and am lucky enough to see the sun. Lucky enough to hear the birds and lucky enough to have my little pup in my life.
  14. Are you confrontational?
On a whole, no. I had to confront someone a couple of months ago when they bumped into my car and scraped it. They then refused to acknowledge they did anything to my car so I got mega pissed off.
  15. What are your thoughts about online dating/Tinder?
I know a few people who have met their other halves on Tinder and I think its a great way for people who don’t really go out much to find like minded people. But I cant help but feel a bit sad for the whole dating game though. I love hearing how people met their partners and Tinder just seems so… shallow? Going off a photo and a couple of sentences wouldn’t be enough for me anyway.
I’m just an old fashioned romantic, what do you reckon?
  16. What did your past relationship teach you?
Don’t ever be ashamed of your disability or be around people who are ashamed of it either!
My last boyfriend never came to visit me in hospital because he didn’t want his mother finding out I had Cystic Fibrosis. I felt ashamed and nobody should ever make anyone feel ashamed of themselves never mind their partner!!
  17. What’s on your bucket list this year?
To do a zipwire!! I saw they have an amazing one in Llandudno in North Wales and I really want to do it!Snowdonia
  18. What do you think about when you’re by yourself?
Oh friggin’ hell, all sorts… Most of the time I probably just plan what I’m going to do in the week.
  19. What is the one thing that people misunderstand about you?
I’m really quiet when I meet someone new and seem REALLY awkward and even snotty. I’m just so shy at times… Takes me a little while to open up to someone new.
  20. Who is that person who you can talk to about anything?
Apart from my boyfriend, it’d have to be my best friend Ev. I met Ev just 2 years ago on the ward we both stay on when we’re ill. She has Cystic Fibrosis like me.
I’ve had best friends in the past but Ev trumps them all, we like all the same things! Well apart from her love of horror films… She always gives her complete and honest opinion and is the most trustworthy person I have ever met.

I hope you’ve enjoyed finding out a bit more about me and the type of person I am.
Now I want to find out about YOU!!!
Please do this as I really think it’d be fun and a fab way for us all to get to know each other…
Write just 1 thing about you in the comments below. It can be anything!
Looking forward to hearing from you all!

The Liebster Award

Another award nomination!

After my Sunshine Blogger award nomination 2 weeks ago I didn’t expect to be receiving another award nomination so soon and on the same day too!
I was kindly nominated twice for the Liebster Award and by Steff and Ellie!

You can find Steff and Ellie’s blogs below, give them a click!

So when I was tagged on Twitter for this award, apart from being surprised and grateful, I was a bit puzzled… Just what exactly was this ‘Liebster Award’?!

Apparently, the Liebster Award was created to recognise/discover new bloggers and their blogs and welcome them to the blogging world.
How could I say no?!

The Rules

  • Acknowledge the blog that gave you the award and send them some love!
  • Answer the 11 questions that the blogger gives you
  • Give 11 random facts about yourself
  • Nominate 11 blogs and notify them that you love what they do
  • Set 11 questions for them to answer.

Steff’s questions she gave me…

  1. If everything were legal for one day, what would you do and why?
I’m just going to cut to the chase and say what probably everyone would do if they could. I’d rob a bank. Yep, why wouldn’t I?! Everything is legal and I’d love a comfortable lifestyle with a gorgeous home and Range Rover Evoque.
  2. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I really wanted (and still do) to be a policewoman. I blame my love of The Bill years ago for this but I have always found crime interesting and love those kind of shows on tv. My dream will never come true though due to my Cystic Fibrosis.
  3. What are 5 staple pieces of clothing you have in your wardrobe?
Red, black and white striped top
    Leather jacket
    Hollister dark blue jeans
    Black ballet flats
    Navy blue trench coat
  4. Describe yourself in 5 words and make it interesting!
Well I don’t know about interesting but I’d describe myself as; Different, determined, sensitive, inquisitive, introverted.
  5. Cake or chocolate?
    Chocolate hands down!
  6. Will you still be blogging in a year’s time?
I really hope so! Usually I get bored really quickly and easily but it’s been 3 weeks since I started Seabreeze Corner and I’m still loving it! I have so many ideas for blog posts and I’m loving learning all the different aspects of blogging.
  7. Which 3 places in the world would you travel to if you could?
    Thailand, Rome and Spain
  8. Do you have any nicknames?
    Liv, Livvy, Pea head
  9. City or country?
    100% country girl over here!
  10. What’s your favourite quote?
‘Treat others how you would like to be treated’. I always try to live my life this way, it truly costs nothing to be nice!
  11. What do you do to wind down after a stressful day?
I love to get into my favourite pjs, get into bed and watch episodes of Grey’s Anatomy until I fall asleep

  1. Do you have any secret talents?
Wish I could say yeah, I speak 10 different languages but no, I don’t have any secret talents
  2. If you could visit any time in history, where would you go?
I flippin’ love this question Ellie! I’d go back to the 1800s as I love the architecture and the clothes they wore back then
  3. What made you start blogging?
Seeing as I am physically unable to work due to my illness I needed a hobby to fill my time. I’ve always enjoyed writing in general but didn’t know what direction to take it in

The NHS! There’s been a lot in the press lately about how bad its become but seriously, I wouldn’t be here without it. Long live the NHS!!!

I really don’t think I’ve ever received a bad present y’know. I must have good present givers around me!
  9. What is the best present you have ever received?
I think it’d have to be my computer when I was 10 from my parents. I’d wanted one for months and I was never off it when I got it
  10. Who inspires you?
There’s a girl who has Cystic Fibrosis like me called Sophie Holmes who I follow on Facebook and Instagram and she is so active and healthy. I will never match her fitness as my lungs are too damaged to reach her level but she still inspires me to be the best I can be!
  11. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
Southern France for sure. Beautiful scenery and warm weather – bliss.
