An Evening in Blackpool

Now I’m MEGA late with this post and my boyfriend has been bugging me to put it up for weeks, so here it is in all its seaside glory!

A couple of weeks ago myself and G (my boyfriend) decided to go to see Blackpool’s famous lights! They were due to be switched off on the 5th of November so we needed to get up there quick to see them.
I always thought Blackpool lights were on over Christmas but NOPE, they run from late August to early November every year. Every year the lights are switched on by a celebrity and this year it was Alfie Boe, who is an English opera singer and actor. He was also born in the seaside town and grew up in nearby Fleetwood.

As we only live around an hour away from Blackpool we decided to set off around half 3 to get there for tea-time.

One thing I noticed when driving through Blackpool was that despite it being Halloween there were NO kids out trick or treating. Honestly, we saw NONE! I’m so glad I grew up without social media in my life and all this technology we have now…

We arrived in Blackpool at 5pm and headed straight for something to eat.

We originally wanted to go to Bella Italia but it was all booked up, it was Halloween night after all…

We walked down towards the tower to see what we could find and came across the Harry Ramsden’s there! Perfect, can’t beat a bit of fish and chips at the seaside can you?!

It was mega busy in there and we had about a 20 minute wait to be seated but everything was clean and the staff were nice and friendly.

The chips weren’t that great but the fish was beauuuuuutiful and I actually quite enjoyed it!

After our tea, we went out for a little walk to see the lights but it started to rain so we went back to the car and drove through the lights instead. Next time if we ever come back to see the lights in the future we’ll definitely come earlier in the year, it was bloody feeezing!

Had to get a pic of my fave…

It was quite a busy night in Blackpool and I think it must’ve took us at least 45 minutes to get through the whole light display! Even though it was cold and rainy, I still enjoyed being with my G and spending precious time together making memories.

The Fall Tag or y’know… The Autumn Tag!

For the last few weeks I’ve been seeing this Fall tag doing the rounds on Twitter  and hoping that someone would tag me to do it but nope nobody did (yeah Billy no mates here, haha!)
So I took it upon myself to just do it anyway, rules schmules!

This Fall tag was created by the fantastic Lauren over at EllDuclos who I discovered when I joined her Facebook group, Boss Girl Bloggers. It’s a great group full of lovely friendly bloggers who bend over backwards to help you out if you need it! There’s always loads of tips flying about too. Check it out if you haven’t already, you wont be disappointed!

🍂🍂🍂

The Questions…

1. What is one candle you MUST light every fall?
I’m not going to lie, I’m not really a candle girl… I know, I’ve failed at Blogger life with that one sentence. BUT! I do like a bit of a sniff of them when I see them in shops. There was one I smelt the other week and I think it was called Vanilla Spice? I’m a big fan of vanilla smelling things so… yeah.

2. When you think of fall, what does it remind you of?
Going back to school, even though I haven’t been back to school for over 10 years… Anyone else miss going to Partners and stocking up on stationary???

3. What is your all time favorite fall/Halloween movie?
Hocus Pocus
I’m not a big lover of scary films AT ALL so Hocus Pocus is my limit at Halloween

4. What Halloween costume do you have in mind?
Do you know what, I’ve never dressed up for Halloween or been to a Halloween party! I dressed up as a witch when I was little like but that’s it.
If I was invited to a party I’d love to dress up as Cleopatra

5. What is your favorite fall trend?
Roll neck tops! I bought this gorgeous one from Matalan the other day!

matalan, roll neck, top, roll neck top, turtle neck, mustardBuy me here!

6. When you think of fall, what drink comes to mind?
Hot chocolate! When I was at a chocolate factory in Bruges in August (read about it HERE) I picked up 2 hot chocolate things. They’re chocolate on a stick basically and you put them in hot milk and stir them until its all melted in. They’re so yummy!

7. What is your go to fall beauty product? A must have staple!
I’m going to say a dark red lipstick.

8. Do you prefer apple pie or pumpkin pie?
I’ve never had Pumpkin pie but I don’t think I’d like it, I cant stand the smell of pumpkins! Apple pie all the way!

9. Do you have any fall traditions? If so tell us all about it!
No, not really. Only to watch Hocus Pocus and have as many hot chocolates as possible!

10. The moment of truth, is fall your favorite season?
It used to be!! But this year my head has been turned by the amazing Summer we had – I miss it so so much! Sorry Autumn…

Why a Plain Black Tee is Your Best Friend!

What a boring post you might be thinking… It’s just a plain black t-shirt. There’s not much to be done with that…
Well you’re forgiven for thinking WRONG people!

The lovely people at Tesco Home Panels sent me their black Ladies Scoop Neck Tee a few weeks ago and at first, yeah, I did think oh, what a boring thing to review… But I got thinking, they couldn’t have possibly sent me a better item of clothing for the coming Autumn/Winter days!

I love Supermarket fashion, I’m not going to lie. I love how affordable it is, how accessible it is and y’know what, they have really nice fashionable pieces! Tesco’s F&F is my favourite, closely followed by Tu by Sainsburys but to be honest, I’ll buy from any supermarket as long as I like the item!

Cotton Sustainability

This t-shirt that Tesco have sent me is made from 100% sustainable cotton, which if you’ve recently watched the Stacey Dooley documentary on BBC1, is such an important thing.
In the documentary we discovered that 15,000 litres of water is needed to grow the cotton needed to make ONE pair of jeans! That’s a HELL of a lot of water just for one pair of jeans, just think of how many litres were needed to make all the cotton garments in your wardrobe… Scary eh?

We saw Stacey drive across a desert in her documentary but it wasn’t a desert at all. It used to be the Amal Sea in Khazakstan which is now 3/4 dried up! It was shocking to see that local cotton producers had done this over a course of 50 years by tapping into the sea to keep their cotton fields supplied with water.

Tesco have fantastically recently pledged to using 100% sustainable cotton in ALL their clothing that they sell. Another reason to love my favourite store!
You can read about this on their own blog here.

How to wear the Tee…

Here’s a few outfits I put together using my black top

Denim shirt – Wish | Ripped jeans – Tesco F&F

Dress – New Look (SO long ago)

Skirt – New Look (3 years ago)

God I need to buy some new clothes it seems, haha! But you get the gist of what kind of outfits you could wear the top with so all’s good!

I definitely think I’ll be wearing this top loads over the autumn/winter, it’s just so versatile!

If you would like one yourself you can find them in Tesco’s stores, click HERE to find your nearest one!

Anyone else love supermarket fashion like me?

A Day Out in Llandudno

The past couple of months have been rubbish for me, what with health problems being the main culprit. So I thought a little change of scene was needed to have an escape from the doom and gloom.
Funny how just a day out can lift your mood and help get you back on track to cope with life’s obstacles, isn’t it?!

Me and my family decided to visit my uncle who lives in Conwy, North Wales and we all then went out together to have a walk around Llandudno which is close by.
It was MEGA busy for a Tuesday afternoon I thought but then again, it is the school holidays and it was a beautiful, hot, sunny day.

I thought I’d share some photos I took of the day, I hope you like ’em!

The only bad thing of the day which really upset me was seeing donkey rides on the beach… I can’t STAND them and just wanted to go on over and have a go at the owner of the donkeys. Really do wish they’d stop exploiting animals in this way.

Would’ve loved to have gone on this boat trip around the Great Orme and to Puffin Island. I’ve been on it before years ago when I was like 10 and it was brilliant!

There were LOADS of little stalls all along the pier. Loads of food; doughnuts, cakes, cheese, fish ‘n’ chips and of course, ice cream!

I mean, you can’t NOT have an ice cream at the seaside can you?

Just before the pier they had a Punch and Judy show. It’s been here for donkeys years, I remember coming here with my cousin and watching it as a young kid. So lovely to see it again and to see a new generation enjoying the show!

On the way back to my uncles house, he decided to take us around the Great Orme and it’s nature reserve.
You pay £3 at a little booth and then you can either drive around the Orme or park up and walk around.

It’s DEFINITELY worth doing as the views are just spectacular!! There’s lots of cute sheep and mountain goats around too.

My uncle made us a lovely roast dinner that evening and it was the perfect end to a perfect day!
Sometimes you forget how beautiful some parts of our country are, I can’t wait to come back here again! Maybe I’ll ride on the Great Orme cable car next time…

Statement Made Jewellery

The Lotus flower actually symbolises 4 different things in Buddhism but for a while I’ve wanted a piece of jewellery to symbolise just one of them – rising and blooming amongst the murk to achieve enlightenment.
The murk for me symbolising Cystic Fibrosis, the disease I suffer from.

I genuinely had been searching for a piece of jewellery to represent this when I got a message from the lovely people at Statement Made Jewellery asking whether they could send me a necklace as a gift.
I didn’t get to choose a specific necklace and to be honest I would’ve felt cheeky as they were lovely enough to send me anything as a gift so I had to wait for it to arrive to see which one I got.

Yep, sure enough and to my surprise I received a beautiful necklace with lotus flower pendant and a small little disc with the initial ‘L’ on for Liv.
I couldn’t believe my luck, it surely must be fate that I’d received exactly what I’d been looking for without me telling anyone!

I took a peek on Statement Made Jewellery’s website (they also are on Etsy!) and saw that they do this necklace in silver too if you’re more suited to that colour.
Whilst on their website I saw that the company make SO many beautiful items. Many more different necklaces, earrings, bracelets and even anklets!! I find it so hard to find pretty anklets but this site has them!

Statement Made Jewellery even do custom-made engraved jewellery if you’re looking for something that bit more personal.

Thank you so very much to Statement Made Jewellery for sending me this beautiful necklace that means a lot to me on a personal level. Just HOW did you read my mind?!
