Why a Plain Black Tee is Your Best Friend!

What a boring post you might be thinking… It’s just a plain black t-shirt. There’s not much to be done with that…
Well you’re forgiven for thinking WRONG people!

The lovely people at Tesco Home Panels sent me their black Ladies Scoop Neck Tee a few weeks ago and at first, yeah, I did think oh, what a boring thing to review… But I got thinking, they couldn’t have possibly sent me a better item of clothing for the coming Autumn/Winter days!

I love Supermarket fashion, I’m not going to lie. I love how affordable it is, how accessible it is and y’know what, they have really nice fashionable pieces! Tesco’s F&F is my favourite, closely followed by Tu by Sainsburys but to be honest, I’ll buy from any supermarket as long as I like the item!

Cotton Sustainability

This t-shirt that Tesco have sent me is made from 100% sustainable cotton, which if you’ve recently watched the Stacey Dooley documentary on BBC1, is such an important thing.
In the documentary we discovered that 15,000 litres of water is needed to grow the cotton needed to make ONE pair of jeans! That’s a HELL of a lot of water just for one pair of jeans, just think of how many litres were needed to make all the cotton garments in your wardrobe… Scary eh?

We saw Stacey drive across a desert in her documentary but it wasn’t a desert at all. It used to be the Amal Sea in Khazakstan which is now 3/4 dried up! It was shocking to see that local cotton producers had done this over a course of 50 years by tapping into the sea to keep their cotton fields supplied with water.

Tesco have fantastically recently pledged to using 100% sustainable cotton in ALL their clothing that they sell. Another reason to love my favourite store!
You can read about this on their own blog here.

How to wear the Tee…

Here’s a few outfits I put together using my black top

Denim shirt – Wish | Ripped jeans – Tesco F&F

Dress – New Look (SO long ago)

Skirt – New Look (3 years ago)

God I need to buy some new clothes it seems, haha! But you get the gist of what kind of outfits you could wear the top with so all’s good!

I definitely think I’ll be wearing this top loads over the autumn/winter, it’s just so versatile!

If you would like one yourself you can find them in Tesco’s stores, click HERE to find your nearest one!

Anyone else love supermarket fashion like me?

St Tropez One Minute Everyday Pre-Shower Tanning Mousse Review

Bit of a mouthful that title isn’t it?!

I’m a complete tanning novice with only a few orange streaky applications of Dove Summer Glow under my belt when I was around 15 years old.

This year, what with the heatwaves we had, I felt confident enough to wear shorts but that meant I’d have to expose my milk bottle legs to the world. I did and I felt fine doing this but I was so jealous of all the girls with gorgeous tanned legs. Plus I’d managed to acquire some interesting tan lines on my feet which look friggin’ awful!

I actually first saw this gradual tan on YouTube, I watched a couple of vids from people who’d reviewed it and thought I’d give it a go. To be honest though, looking back, these girls who reviewed the product were already quite tanned to start with…

st tropez tan

This product appealed to me as I’m mega lazy and it claimed to work BEFORE a shower and take one minute to do so. I could so easily fit it into my daily routine no probs, my prayers had been answered!
Here’s what St Tropez claim on their website:

The World’s first One Minute Pre-Shower Tanning Mousse is the most convenient way to an everyday sunkissed glow. Simply apply to dry skin daily and shower off after just 1 minute for a subtle golden glow from day one. Reapply daily, or leave on longer for a deeper glow.

*Just a note to do a test patch the day before you use this product in case you are allergic to it*

To apply this mousse was really nice and easy if I’m honest. It comes out as a white fluffy mousse and when you put it onto your skin it’s white too which makes application much easier as you can see where you’ve applied it.
There was a slight smell on application but it reminded me of shampoo rather than biscuit-y tan smell which was quite nice tbh! It also soaked into my skin really quickly.
St Tropez say on their website that you can leave it on for up to 5 minutes so that you get a deeper glow so I thought I’d try make the most of the product.

After 4 minutes I hopped into the shower and washed my body with my usual shower gel.

Throughout the day I kept checking my legs to see if anything was developing but didn’t really notice anything…

After sleeping with the product on, I woke up to my legs looking, not so tan-like, but as if the product had evened out my skin tone. Which was good but I was expecting more of a little glow.
I could also smell the dreaded biscuit-y smell… BUT there was no transfer on my pyjamas or bed sheets.
Onto the next application…
Before I had my usual shower of the day I stuck another layer on my legs, waited the full 5 minutes this time and then showered it off.

During the day I did notice a very very slight tan beginning to develop but I wouldn’t really call it a tan if I’m honest.

When I woke up this morning I REALLY wanted to see lovely tanned legs and they just weren’t there… I would say that it definitely evened out the skin tone of my legs but again, no real tan to shout about.

I decided to give it one last try as it is a gradual tan after all and I guess the results I’ve got are gradual…
So again, I applied another layer of the tan before my morning shower, waited 5 minutes then washed it off.

I did notice this time during the day that a bit of colour developed! THANK THE LORD!

Please excuse my AWFUL legs!

I don’t think gradual tanners are for me, I’m faaaaaaar too impatient! This product did even out my skin tone and gave me a very slight tan but I don’t think it’s for me.
What doesn’t work for one person may work for another though and I do think it’s worth a shot.

I think I’m going to give St Tropez’s Self Tan Express Bronzing Mousse a go next. Has anyone used it or got any recommendations for other self tans?

Primark Haul

One of the biggest #firstworldprobs for me is Primark not having an online shop. I mean COME ON, its 2018, I’m a millennial who doesn’t like interacting with the outside world and I’m an introvert to boot! I NEED online shopping to survive this life.

The other day however, my boyfriend took me to the absolutely enormous, heaven of a Primark in Liverpool to grab a few bits for our cruise next month – the absolute BABE. So for all you introverts out there who like to peruse what clothes Primark have in store at the moment (July 2018) without leaving your house, here are a couple of things I bought.

I must add that dozy me forgot to bring along my card so my guy kindly bought these things for me and I paid him back. BUT that meant that I felt I couldn’t buy everything I wanted to… Y’know that meme that you see floating about social media? I only went in to buy socks and came out with the whole shop – yep, that’s me. So restricting myself was HARD as I usually spend like £100 a go in there!

Primark Vest£3

I’d been wanting something in this gorgeous mustard colour for ages and this vest seemed perfect. I think I’ll be wearing it with a pair of white shorts for those days when we go on excursions.

Red Primark top£6

I bought this just to wear as something casual for walking around or maybe for the day we board the ship. Might wear it with the white jeans I got (see below).

Primark Bardot top£4

I’d bought a Bardot top ages ago when they first came out this year and I didn’t get on well with it, it kept annoying me with constantly creeping up when I lifted my arms.
I really wanted to give this style of top another go so I bought this little beauty and at £4 it wasn’t going to break the bank if it didn’t work out.
I actually wore this the other day and I bloody love it! It didn’t creep up as much as the other top I had and it actually suits me!

Primark playsuit£6

This is my favourite thing I’ve bought this year (apart from my iPhone). It fits so so well and again, I’ve found something that SUITS me.
I seem to suit clothes with a halter-neck best I’ve found, so I’m now also looking for a halter-neck dress to wear on the formal night on the cruise. So if any of you have seen any nice ones, throw those links at me!

Last but not least…

white jeggings£6

Sorry for the really crap photo of this, I really need to invest in some light boxes or something…
I simply bought this because I can wear basically anything with these, either dress it up or down.

Knowing me I’ll probably buy a couple more things to take away with me but I’m so so happy with every single thing I’ve bought.

Statement Made Jewellery

The Lotus flower actually symbolises 4 different things in Buddhism but for a while I’ve wanted a piece of jewellery to symbolise just one of them – rising and blooming amongst the murk to achieve enlightenment.
The murk for me symbolising Cystic Fibrosis, the disease I suffer from.

I genuinely had been searching for a piece of jewellery to represent this when I got a message from the lovely people at Statement Made Jewellery asking whether they could send me a necklace as a gift.
I didn’t get to choose a specific necklace and to be honest I would’ve felt cheeky as they were lovely enough to send me anything as a gift so I had to wait for it to arrive to see which one I got.

statement made jewellery

Yep, sure enough and to my surprise I received a beautiful necklace with lotus flower pendant and a small little disc with the initial ‘L’ on for Liv.
I couldn’t believe my luck, it surely must be fate that I’d received exactly what I’d been looking for without me telling anyone!

necklacelotus flower necklace

I took a peek on Statement Made Jewellery’s website (they also are on Etsy!) and saw that they do this necklace in silver too if you’re more suited to that colour.
Whilst on their website I saw that the company make SO many beautiful items. Many more different necklaces, earrings, bracelets and even anklets!! I find it so hard to find pretty anklets but this site has them!

Statement Made Jewellery even do custom-made engraved jewellery if you’re looking for something that bit more personal.

Thank you so very much to Statement Made Jewellery for sending me this beautiful necklace that means a lot to me on a personal level. Just HOW did you read my mind?!

The April Edit

So I thought it’d be a fab idea to start doing these monthly review posts to try and connect better with you guys and hopefully have a little chit chat in the process.

In these posts, I’ll be sharing what’s been happening in my little life over the past month, what I’m looking forward to in the coming month and favourite books/products/things – stuff like that.

So here goes…

April has been mostly a miserable month for me. My little pup was ill and nobody knew what was wrong with her, she kept shaking and wasn’t eating properly. My poor little love went through all kinds of tests but they shown nothing.
Luckily she’s picked up now and is having no issues, so I really hope it was a virus or something? Can dogs even get viruses? *any vets out there?* I don’t know, I just hope she’ll be okay from now on.

Another reason April wasn’t the best was that my boyfriend hasn’t been well at all. With having Cystic Fibrosis it makes me very susceptible to picking up germs and if I do catch them off someone, the cold/bug hits me a LOT harder. I’d not seen him for 3 weeks until the other night when we had a little date night to our new local Hickory’s! It was so good to see him as I was missing him like crazy.

Yes, that is a plant on the floor – it was a windy day!

April wasn’t all doom and gloom though, me and my man finally finished paying off our holiday for August! We’re going on a mini cruise with Royal Caribbean to Bruges and Brussels to celebrate my boyfriend’s 30th birthday! I cant flippin’ wait!! It’ll be our 2nd cruise together and we’re going on the same ship as last time – Independence of the Seas, has anyone been on it? It’s currently in the process of having a refurb so it’ll be all new and shiny for when we go on it.
Only 116 days to go haha!

Blogging Life

I am still loving blogging and everything that it includes, I’m glad to say.
My little corner reached it’s 2 month ‘blogiversary’ the other day and I’m really pleased with its progress!
I took part in my first ever twitter chat on Monday and it was with Charlene from Beechat and it was great! I will definitely be taking part in more chats from now on so if anyone knows of anymore I can take part in please leave me a comment below, I’d be so grateful!

I wrote 3 posts this month and if you would like to check them out they’re linked below. I aim to write at least one post a week so need to work a bit harder on achieving this next month. My problem is that I overthink my posts and worry that they’re not good enough. I need to just write and get them out there!

What’s in my Bag
20 Questions to get to know me
5 National Trust Sites I Want To Visit

My Instagram has been booming this month and have had loads of new followers! It’s just fab to have actual engagement with my posts to be honest. Really enjoying getting to know other bloggers and their lives too.

My most popular posts this month were these:

God I loved that burger… Seriously, I cant believe I’d never had macaroni and cheese before but it was just amazing on a burger!!

On the 26th April I reached 6 months of not needing any antibiotics in hospital!!!!! It probably doesn’t sound like much to you but to me it does! I used to need to go into hospital every 2-3 months for 2 weeks at least so 6 months is pure heaven haha!

Despite reaching my goal, my lungs have been a bit iffy this month. I seem to have developed a bit of a cough and finding the gym a bit harder which frustrates the HELL out of me! I always seem to want to do better than the last time I was there too; a heavier weight or a steeper incline.
I do keep trying to tell myself that the main thing is just turning up on the bad days and whatever exercise I manage to do is better than nothing!

I have a hospital appointment next week where I’ll have some tests done so I’ll find out then whether I’ll be able to reach 7 months without antibiotics or whether I need a bit of help. Fingers crossed I’ll do okay!

What I’ve been loving this month…

I’ve FINALLY got back into reading! It has been so long since I’ve got lost in a book and it feels good to be lost again!
My local library has this online service where you can borrow books on your kindle/e-reader and I was looking through their new releases and came across this…

I’d read this author’s previous book, Local Girl Missing and I’d really enjoyed it so was quite eager to give this a go.
I’m nearly halfway through and it’s keeping me gripped so that’s a good sign!
Here is the synopsis if you’re interested…

So unless you’ve been living under a rock this month you’ve probably not been able to move without seeing something about the Royal wedding. I personally have been loving it!
I think I can call myself something of a royalist but I’m not one of those who collects memorabilia or goes out to see them if they’re out and about where I live… I just like following what they’re up to and take a bit of an interest.

This past week ITV1 have been showing a Royal documentary series and its been about weddings in the royal family. I have bloody loved watching these docs! Seeing all the traditions, wedding dresses, cakes and learning about all the royals. Its been great.
If you want to watch them, they’re all on the ITV Hub to watch.
I personally really like Meghan Markle, I think she’s fresh, so beautiful and will be great for the new generation of the Royal family.

Roll on the 19th May for Harry’s big day!!

harry and meghan

So that’s it for my first monthly review!
Please let me know if it was any good because I just felt I was rambling a bit haha!

Thank you for reading!
